Applying Todorov’s Narrative Theory

What is Todorov's Narrative Theory:

1. Equilibrium – Everything is normal.

2. Disruption – Something goes wrong.

3. Recognition – The characters realize there’s a problem.

4. Attempt to Repair – They try to fix it.

5. New Equilibrium – Things go back to normal, or change completely.

How We Employed It for the Opening of the Film: We could only display the first few scenes because we just prepared a movie beginning, but we made good use of them to create tension.

Show How It Takes Place in Our Movie

Equilibrium: In class, a bunch of pals are playing Truth or Dare and making jokes.
Everything appears to be typical.

Disruption: Jay is challenged by Sabari to enter the haunting room. There is now a
danger and a challenge.

Attempt to Repair: Jay overhears other pupils discussing the ghost. He becomes anxious and begins to think that this could be a terrible situation.

New Equilibrium: Not shown—Jay opening the door marks the suspenseful conclusion of our movie.
